Remote Contract Paralegal


REMOTE (Must be Morgantown, WV based) | 6-12 WEEK CONTRACT | FULL-TIME

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant for a 6-12 week contract opportunity that is fully remote . This position will provide legal and administrative support with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, including locating and organizing records, preparing responses, protecting confidential information, and tracking deadlines.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
• Fully remote (must be Morgantown, WV based)
• 6-12 week contract starting in November 2026

Responsibilities

• Search for and collect documents responsive to FOIA requests.
• Communicate with internal and external contacts to locate requested information.
• Organize and compile information for requests and responses.
• Review documents and redact confidential or personally identifiable information using Adobe Pro.
• Draft correspondence and responses for review.
• Review, analyze, and organize collected records.
• Track requests and deadlines to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain case files and records.
• Prepare weekly status reports and updates.
• Provide general administrative and organizational support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field such as Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Political Science, or Intellectual Property.
• 5+ years of administrative, technical, customer service, or office experience.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with Adobe Pro; FOIA/case management software is a plus.
• Excellent grammar, proofreading, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
• Able to work independently and prioritize multiple deadlines.
• Professional communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at various levels.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
